Jury Duty

NOTE: THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL IS GUARANTEED BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AND BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF ARIZONA.

Summons

If you are a resident of the City of South Tucson, you may receive a summons from the South Tucson Municipal Court that notifies you of potential jury duty. You will be placed in a pool of perspective jurors for a period of 90 days. However, your service would be required for only ONE day or until the trial is completed should you be called and asked to appear in person.

As a resident of the City, you are also a Pima County resident and you may be asked to appear for jury duty for the County. If you receive a summons from Pima County you are to follow the instructions on that summons and/or contact the Pima County Superior Court Jury Commissioner.

Attire

Should you be called to appear in the South Tucson Municipal Court for Jury duty, your attire should be neat and clean. Clothing such as shorts, mini-skirts, tank tops, T-shirts, flip-flops, or slippers should NOT be worn. You may be required to return home and change to more suitable clothing at your own expense.

Compensation

If you are selected as a juror on a case, you shall be compensated per day, plus mileage for each day you serve. (Pima County compensation varies upon service and you must contact the Pima County Superior Court Jury Commissioner for specific information).

Failure to appear for jury duty may subject you to penalties as established by law. For information regarding obtaining Postponements or Excuses, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions of this website.
